Xbox apps for iOS and Android will now have touch controls according to Microsoft

In summary, Xbox apps for iOS and Android are allegedly getting touch controls from Microsoft.
The beta version has been observed to have the most recent update.
The business recently disclosed layoffs in its Xbox and Blizzard game units.

According to a report by The Verge, Microsoft is enhancing the Xbox experience on mobile devices by adding touch controls to its Xbox apps for iOS and Android. The touch controllers, which are now in beta testing, allow Xbox users to play games on smartphones and tablets and remotely control their consoles without the necessity of a Bluetooth controller.

With an on-screen overlay that makes it easier to navigate the Xbox user interface remotely, these touch controls are similar to those found on Microsoft's Xbox Cloud Gaming service.

The research claimed that Microsoft's touch controls are fairly effective, especially for players who previously relied on Bluetooth controllers for remote play, even though dedicated controllers provide a better gaming experience. Interestingly, Microsoft reports that 20% of Xbox Cloud Gaming users only use touch controls. Custom Xbox touch controls have been actively added by the firm to a number of games, with titles such as Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Hades, and Minecraft Dungeons becoming increasingly popular.

Concurrently, Microsoft has made substantial internal restructuring announcements, including the elimination of almost 1900 positions in its Xbox and Blizzard game divisions. With 22,000 workers, the Microsoft Gaming division employs roughly 8% fewer people overall as a result of this reduction.

Microsoft's VP of gaming content and studios, Matt Booty, acknowledged these layoffs and revealed the resignation of Allen Adham, chief design officer of Blizzard, in an internal message. As one of Blizzard's cofounders, Adham was crucial in influencing the games developed by the business. By mentoring upcoming designers in the field, Adham will continue to have an impact, according to Booty.

Microsoft disclosed the scrapping of a Blizzard survival game that had been previously mentioned as part of the reorganization.
